FINAL JUNE SHOW AT CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS.
The beauty of sustainable 3D printing techniques with recycled paper.
"Thin bark closed over her breast, her hair turned into leaves, her arms into branches, her feet so swift a moment ago stuck fast in slow-growing roots, her face was lost in the canopy. Only her shining beauty was left." In the ancient Greek myth of Daphne and Apollo, Daphne returns to the earth by transforming into a tree.
This project explores 3D printing with paper. Using a process that requires no harmful additions, the paper can once again return safely to the earth. The origin of this solution is from the waste of others. The mixture, in combination with vegan binders, offers an interesting water-soluble and biodegradable material, with no chemicals or inks added.
This modern Daphne resonates with the transformational material change of the original tale; discarded paper morphs into a new poetic language without compromising our environment.
